Regretfully we opted for the 14 bed dorm for our stay. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. If you value your sleep, I would recommend paying slightly more for a smaller dorm. When we entered the room, we were greeted with a rather unpleasant smell. The room got no airflow, which really exacerbated the problem, and it was very dark and stuffy. The bedding also had an interesting smell, as the duvets definitely do not get washed very often. There was no where to store our belongings, and the beds were super rickety. The kitchen was quite small, but was well equipped and the common areas were nice. The bathrooms were also fairly decent, but could’ve done with more showers. The staff were helpful, and the vibe of the hostel was very friendly, but I think the 14 bed dorm needs a bit of TLC.

The overnight stay in this hostel was more than beautiful, everything was in hand, everything was pleasant and relaxing. I must also say that the only thing that was not good is the bald security guy, very unpleasant, especially with me without having done anything. he is a bad person for this job. can not tell customers to smoke in a specific place indicated by him. the street is a free area, smoking even on the left side of the structure did not bring discomfort to anyone, even at 3 am when he approaches with a threatening area to tell me to go where he says. ah! if he wants to enforce the rules of the hostel, he must be the first to respect them. he can not smoke his joints with the girl sitting at the tables displayed outside. in addition as well served, the night before my departure, in the showers I had laid my things to be able to wash myself and when I arrived in the bathroom they had been thrown to the ground in a pool of water, in reality does not even assume its responsibilities, answering me that it was not him. but he was taking a shower where I had laid my things and in addition responding badly. Well what about I felt good until all day, you will open when he was present. you are a big person of stature but small in brain. grow bro!

My friends and I spent a night at the pickled frog at either end of our week long trip to Tasmania. We chose the 14-bed mixed dorm and upon arrival were greeted by a very pungent smell. The room was dark and stuffy during the day but the emergency exit light lit up the room at night which made it difficult to sleep. The duvet gave me the impression that it hadn’t been washed in a while which didn’t improve the experience. The bathrooms and kitchen however were fairly decent and there was a nice common area. Although personally I wouldn’t stay again, I would highly recommend spending a bit more money to get a smaller dorm.

This is the worst hostel I've ever stayed in Australia. Two of the four walls of my room are next to the lounge, and the walls are not soundproofed at all, it's either the sound of chatting or the sound of a movie, and the sound of the upstairs floorboards being stepped on is also very obvious, so I can't sleep well at night, and it's very insincere to have such a layout. In addition, there are only a few sockets next to the beds. Not recommended if you want to have a good rest!

I had a terrible stay at the pickled frog. Upon entering the 14 bed dorm, the smell alone is enough to send you packing. Furthermore, the room was dark, uninviting and personally made me feel uncomfortable. The duvet that was on my bed reeked of body odour and gave the impression that it hadn’t been changed or cleaned between people. There were only 3 showers in the whole vicinity, but the showers itself were fine. The toilets downstairs had a continuous foul smell and was simply off putting. The staff were lovely and there was parking at the back ($10) which was appreciated. Stay here if you absolutely need to and if you don’t mind getting a lung infection (or don’t choose the 14 bed dorm)
