Loved our stay at Discovery Resort. Staff were helpful and friendly. Accommodation was fantastic. Comfortable beds, functional kitchen and great bathrooms. Good pillows - what is it with the crappy pillows at some places. Anyhow, resort gained extra points for preparing tailored and yummy gluten free breakfasts for us. Thank you so much!

When we first walked into the resort, en route to reception, we were greeted by a domestic assistant. Considering their role at the resort, I thought this was an especially warm gesture. Great first impression. At the reception, we were attended to by Sarah who informed us that we had been upgraded to the Deluxe Oceanside Tent which was a lovely surprise. Throughout our stay, Sarah was friendly, well-spoken and excelled at customer service. There was another worker called Nick (?) in the reception area who would take the time to talk with my son. My son loves to chat, especially about dinosaurs. My son really appreciated these interactions. All the staff I interacted with and witnessed at Discovery Rottnest were professional and well-presented. Thank you to the Discovery Rottnest Team for making my son’s birthday weekend extra special!

We had a great stay at the resort. Alex at reception made us feel very welcome from the start and explained everything perfectly. The tent was huge and comfy and very private. The on site restaurant, 'Pinky's, menu is a bit limited and basic but our tent had a bbq so we decided to cook on one night.of our stay.

I recently stayed on Rottnest Island with my 16-year-old daughter and her two teenage friends, and the experience was deeply unsettling. On one of the nights, I returned to our campsite about 30 minutes later than expected after dinner. When I arrived, I was appalled to find out that Aaron, an assistant manager, had entered our tent, found the teenagers inside without an adult, and forced them out into the dark. Even after I arrived there? We all had no place to sleep through that night in the island. His justification? “Duty of care.” But where was the duty of care when three teenagers were sent out, humiliated, and called names? Even he said she was a South African girl. Even if she was , what her race has got to anything? Instead of calling me—the responsible adult—Aaron decided to lock the tent, barring all of us from access for the rest of the night. This decision was unreasonable and completely unnecessary. What’s worse, my daughter and her friends told me that Aaron used inappropriate language toward them, calling my daughter names like “Honey,” “Babes,” and “Gonzi.” One of the girls even asked to use the bathroom, and instead of allowing her some privacy, he followed her to ensure she left the tent. This behavior was intrusive, humiliating, and absolutely inappropriate, especially for a staff member dealing with underage guests. We called the police five times for assistance, but they were overwhelmed with other issues on the island involving juveniles. However, my kids had nothing to do with any disturbances—they were simply trying to stay in the tent safely while waiting for my return which I was not far off. While I understand the importance of duty of care, this situation was handled in the worst way possible. Instead of ensuring the teenagers’ safety, Aaron escalated the situation, making them feel unsafe, humiliated, and disrespected. A simple phone call to inform me of the issue could have resolved everything peacefully. Families visit Rottnest Island expecting a safe and welcoming environment, but our experience proved the opposite. Aaron’s actions not only created an unsafe situation but also made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I urge management to review their protocols and ensure that staff are trained to handle situations with professionalism and respect. Also I would to request the money paid as we were not allowed to use the tent for a night.

We had a brilliant stay here, and genuinely cannot wait to come back! Nice and quick walk (10-15minutes) from main town and jetty. Quieter location with the iconic Pinkys Beach. Beautiful big and modern tents, with terrific views (Deluxe Oceanview Cabin). The breakfast included at Pinkys Restaurant is THE BEST hotel/resort buffet I've ever had. Brunch/Lunch/Dinner and drinks also available at the restaurant. Great views of the lighthouse (and we were lucky enough to see whales). Cannot wait to return for a longer stay in the warmer months.
