a week agoWe had a nice stay at 790 on George! The staff on the front desk were very lovely and we managed to check in early. Our room was pretty basic and smelt a little funky but with comfy beds and air-con we managed to sleep well. The bathrooms were quite nice with decent showers and they were kept clean by housekeeping. The kitchen was similarly clean, although it occasionally had a funky smell, and there was plenty of space for cooking. The free breakfast was a nice touch and consisted of bread, spreads and cereals. We also used the laundry which was $4 per cycle which we found to be a very reasonable price for the amount of clothes you could fit. Overall the hostel is in a great location with tram, bus, coach and train stops in the immediate vicinity. I would recommend to any budget backpacker!

2 months agoRoom and common shower cleanliness were decent. They offer free breakfast but did not try. Location is very good tram station is just in-front and Central station is just across the street. We did not have a hard time finding it.

a month agoVery nice and cheap city hostel. Nothing special, but the rooms were clean and had nice ac and the kitchen was really big and fairly clean compared to other much more expensive hostels in sydney I stayed in. No social events, but the free breakfast in the morning had a big choice of cereal and spreads. Also the staff was very friendly and helpful, I would stay again! :)

2 months agoThe location is great but the sound of passing trams is noticeable in the middle of the night. Although free toast is provided, other guests will just steal your baked toast. There is no power socket next to the bed which is very inconvenient. The bedding is clean but the bed frame feels unstable. No hairdryer provided

a month agoPretty good hostel. As others have said there are a lot of older guests, but it doesn’t bother me at all. Everyone needs somewhere to stay & there are no cheap options in Sydney. It’s not the most social hostel, but everyone I’ve come across has been quite nice/ friendly. There’s plenty of potential for the hostel to be social, so this is not the hostels fault whatsoever. I would put it down to Sydney attitude - people rather stick to themselves in this city. Water temperature & pressure in the showers is fantastic. Bathrooms are clean, hostel is clean. Location of the hostel is fantastic. Located right near must visits such as market city, darling harbour and very close to the 2 main train stations central & town hall. Gripes: no oven in kitchen, but there are stoves and microwaves. No freezers but this is pretty normal of hostels. Plenty of fridge & pantry space and well organised. Luggage storage which is amazing. They’re very pedantic about who’s using which locker which I found really strange, usually it’s just first in best dressed. But here each bed has an assigned locker & they also do inspections & make you move your items if using a different locker…. Lockers are very spacious & huge and each one has a universal PowerPoint inside which I believe can take any type of plug…. There is aircon in the rooms, however hopefully you don’t get lumped in with someone who controls the aircon I’m currently writing this at 3am after being woken by extreme heat & waking up drenched in sweat Bed linen is clean and your bed comes already made and includes a top sheet and a big thick heavy warm blanket - so no excuses for those horrible aircon controllers Pillow is the comfiest I’ve ever received in a hostel and is amazing thick heavy quality. Not those thin ones that make you wonder why they even bothered at all. Bunk beds are a bit on the wobbly side with no privacy screen - again doesn’t overly bother me as I am staying in a female only room, so it’s ok I guess. But every movement is felt in either bed. Overall a really good hostel and I would stay here again! I wish you were allowed to extend past 28 days
